PATACONES (Fried Plantain) 🍌 Since living in Barcelona, I’ve made many Latin American friends and fell in love with their food and am absolutely obsessed with Patacones. Luckily they are quite easy to make. What you need:
4 green plantains (don’t use yellow or yellowish ones as the taste will be very different)
1/2 lemon
2 garlic cloves
Salt
Vegetable oil

Peel plantains and cut each into 4-5 pieces. In a bowl of water, add freshly squeezed lemon juice, chopped garlic and some salt. Add plantains and let sit for 10 minutes. Dry off and in the meantime heat oil to fry plantains. Fry plantain pieces for about 3-4 minutes on each side. Take them out and place on paper towel. Flatten the fried plantain (I used a small glass bowl) and fry again for 3-4 minutes on each side. Place again on paper towel, add salt and they’re ready!! I think they’re best with any kind of sauce, I made a homemade yogurt sauce (recipe coming soon)! So good and they’re vegan too! Enjoy ✨
